God's Works of Art

“For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

Masterpiece or Infant Scribble

So many art styles have emerged throughout history with each one giving insight into not only the culture of its day but also the artist. From the use of light and bold colours of the Impressionists like Monet to the beautiful realism of Leonardo Da Vinci the masterpieces they created have been enjoyed for generations. However, their masterpieces are like an infant’s scribbles in comparison to the works of art on display to us every day by the Master craftsman.

The Beauty of the Creation

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Romans 1:19

When its not raining its usually warm enough this time of year to go outside. Even the trees look so beautiful and full of life. Take time to enjoy God’s works of art all around us every day. This can be a time to open our eyes in a new way to all the beauty God has put around us and to simply commune with Him as we do it. Brother Lawrence the 17th century monk simply turned his heart toward God as he cleaned in the kitchen, how much more inspiring it is to have the opportunity to get outside and enjoy God’s creation and turn our hearts towards Him and enjoy a simple time of being with Him.

God's Greatest Works of Art
Psalm 139:13 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
Every person has been purposefully and carefully designed. Every aspect of us was carefully crafted by God to be a one of a kind. God was so intimately involved in our creation and we are so intimately known by Him. God says that He knows the numbers of hairs on our heads (Luke 12:7), He is familiar with all our ways (Psalm 139:3) and that we are inscribed on the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16).

Walk around and take a look at God's works of art
We can get an even greater revelation of how significant every person is and a greater love for them. This will change how we pray, how we treat people and how we reach out for the better. Not a heavy yoke just an infusion of God’s perspective but it will make us so much more effective. Whatever times of rest we have at this time we can still commune with God and grow in greater depth of love and appreciation for Him if we look around us and see all His goodness on display.

May you all be refreshed and awakened to the goodness of God this season.

With our love and prayers,

Pastors Phil and Caroline.
